Our aims

Oral History NSW was established in 1979 as a non-profit association supporting the promotion and improvement of oral history. Its aims include:

  • Providing a community of practice and a forum for sharing information about the techniques and application of oral history

  • Promoting discussion and training on all aspects of oral history as a discipline and as a means of gathering and preserving social and cultural history

  • Fostering preservation, access and use of oral history collections

  • Pursuing common objectives and maintains links with other Australian oral history associations through membership of Oral History Australia

  • Advocating on behalf of oral history
