Oral History NSW relies solely on its members to manage and conduct its various program activities.  There are many opportunities to get involved and meet others with similar interests.

  • Regular Seminars and Workshops
  • Opportunities for informal exchange of ideas and experience. 
  • Oral History Network News our monthly email newsletter keeping you in touch with current topics and events of interest to oral historians and opportunities for skill development. Notices from organisations, associations, and individuals requesting oral historians for particular projects are also published here.
  • A blog bringing you updates about the many issues relating to oral history, project reports, book reviews and much more with opportunity for everyone to comment and contribute.  This blog will dovetail well with our social media presence on Facebook.
  • Subscription to the annual Oral History Australia Journal published online (as from 2017). Contributions of articles and papers are welcome. A Peer Review Process is available to everyone interested in submitting an article for the national journal.   
  • Insights and discussion about current issues and projects of the broader Oral History community at the Biennial National Oral History Conferences. The next conference will be held in NSW 2017.
  • Awards the Oral History Australia Hazel de Berg Award for Excellence in Oral History is awarded biennially to recognise  those who have made an outstanding contribution to oral history in Australia over a considerable period of time. The next award will be made in 2017.
  • Occasional Grants  - Oral History NSW offers occasional grants to members undertaking research based on, or concerning, oral history and who wish to participate or present a paper at an international oral history conference. 

  • Publications - The Oral History Handbook by Beth Robertson, published by Oral History Australia SA-NT. 
  • Regular updates on digital equipment suitable for oral history and other technical tips.
